Charles(Jane) was an adult in Westmoreland, buying land in 1690,
so born no later than 1660 or 1670. The fact is that we do not
know the ancestors of Charles I. We do know that he is not of
the Henry of York line. The prevailing tradition, although not
backed up with real evidence is that this particular Tyler
family lived in Maryland and came to Westmoreland with and about
the same time as the Monroe family. The Tyler Monroe family
were closely interconnected.
Charles Tyler Encyclopedia of Virginia Biography, Volume I,
IV--Burgesses and Other Prominent Persons: was the apparent
founder of the family of Tylers which beginning in Westmoreland
county spread through Prince William, Fauquier and Loudoun
counties. He had four sons Charles, Benjamin, Joseph and
William. He died in 1723, leaving a widow Jane who married
(secondly) William Woffendall. He was ancestor of John Webb
Tyler, judge of the Virginia Supreme Court and who died in 1862.
