The reason that I ask is that I descend from the other John
Davis who lived in Monroe Co., AL - as did your John Packer
Davis. In fact, I have alot of Wilcox & Monroe Co., Court
Records regarding the Wills of the Davis' and McCants in those
two counties & would be glad to share, if you don't already have
them. My John Davis purchased land in Wilcox Co. with Lewis
Davis.
In Monroe/Wilcox there seem to be 3 different Davis families.
Your John P. Davis, my John Davis & wife Elizabeth Murphy, and
Adam Davis & wife Eleanor Black - all who had descendents in
Monroe, Wilcox and Perry Co's.
I believe that my John Davis is a son of Lewis Davis with whom
he purchased the land in Wilcox Co. Lewis had (who I believe to
be) a brother named Gideon - because they both lived in Monroe
Co., and died within 1 1/2 yrs of each other & their estates
were administrated together and records combined in court. I
believe that both these "brothers" are the brothers of Keziah
Davis & they are all children of Absolom Davis, Sr. of Granville
Co., NC then to Elbert Co., GA.
So, could you add more to any of your thoughts about the
connection between Keziah Davis and Abel Davis - I'd really
appreciate it. It might help clear up some big questions with
these Davis'
