His children were born in Ireland and it is known that he had
several wives. The children of William Ewing emigrated to
America about 1725 from Coleraine, Ireland and some of them
settled in Cecil County, Maryland, some in Pennsylvania, and
several in Virginia.
To this branch of the Ewing family, through one of William's
sons, belong Adlai Ewing Stevenson, a distinguished lawyer and
legislator, Vice-president of the United States in 1893-97;
James S. Ewing, United States minister to Belgium during the
same period; and many other notable men and women.
Information from "Ewings Genealogy Cognate Branches" by Presley
Kittridge Ewing & Mary Ellen Ewing. Also "Ewing Genealogy" By
Hon. Presley K. Ewing. Of the Loch Lomond Glasgow Clan.

II, son of William Ewing and Elizabeth Milford, was brought to
Ireland from Scotland by his parents when they removed to
Ulster. William II settled around Coleraine, while Robert, his
brother, lived near Londonderry.
All of the male children of William II traveled to America in
1727, along with their cousin, Alexander Ewing, son of Robert.
All sailed aboard the same ship, according to family tradition a
vessel chartered by the Ewings for the voyage and christened The
Eagle Wing.
Son Joshua thought to have settled in Maryland.
Son James in Virginia.
Son Samuel in Penn.
Son Nathaniel in Maryland.
Son William to Pennsylvania then settled in Rockingham county
Virginia.
