Martha was born at
South Carolina on 4 December 1824. She was the daughter of
Robert S. Strong and
Jennet McKee. She married
Samuel Moffatt at
Monroe Co., Indiana, on 19 August 1847. Martha was listed as a household member living with
Samuel Moffatt on the 1850 Census at
Richland Twp., Monroe Co., Indiana. She made a will at
Monroe Co., Indiana, on 19 April 1890. Martha died on 29 September 1890 at
Monroe Co., Indiana, at age 65. She was New Tag Obituary from the Tuesday Sept. 30, 1890 Bloomington Telephone:
"Mrs. Moffett, whose sickness has been noted, died yesterday morning at 8 o'clock. Typhoid fever was the trouble. Her death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Aaron Gordon, south of the city. She was also the mother of Mrs. Jno. Reed. Mrs. Moffett was a most excellent christian woman, and has many friends who will mourn her death. She was a faithful member of the U.P. Church."
On 30 September 1890 at
Bloomington, Monroe Co., Indiana. Her body was interred in 1890 at
Bloomington, Monroe Co., Indiana, at United Presbyterian Cemetery.
