John Gudgeon b. 1848 - 1904
John Gudgeon was born in 1848 to James Gudgen and Elizabeth in Hanley, Stokeon Trent. Following the death of his father, his mother Elizabeth (Daly) remarried and it appears that between 1863 and 1870 the joint families moves to Standish. It was in Standish that John Gudgeon married Jane Wilding in 1870. John Gudgeon was a coal miner.He died in 1904 aged 54.

John Gudgeon from Hanley, Staffordshire married in 1870 to Jane Wilding from Standish.(ref 8c.118). On this occassion Gudgeon is spelled Gudgen.

In the 1881 census John Gudgeon aged 33 was living at 75 High Street, Standish with his wife Jane 31 and Elizabeth 10, Jane 7 (I think this is a clerical error on the census ie. copied the wife's name from line above and should read Annie 7), James 5 and Theresa 2.
In 1881 his father in law with family (the Wildings) were living at 27 High Street, and his remarried mother and children were living at 29 High Street.

probably having lived there that long, he considered himself
