My name I Chris Davis. I was surfing the web, looking for information on various ancestors when I was directed to your site in reference to a search on the Shaws.
You reference Ceolia Shaw b abt 1859, daughter of Jonathan Shaw and Harriet Bailey. This is probably too far afield of the core of your interests, but in case this is helpful...
She was my G-grandmother. Her name was Lydia Ceolia Shaw b 8 Feb 1858 in Fairfield Township, Cumberland County, NJ. She married Florence C Leake b 11 Jul 1853 in Bridgeton, Cumberland County, NJ; d 27 Nov 1908 Bridgeton, Cumberland County, NJ. He was buried in the Old Presbyterian Cemetery, Route 49, Bridgeton, Cumberland County, NJ. They had a total of twelve children but only 5 survived childhood. Lydia went by Ceolia for most of her life.
She died 4 April 1947 in a county home having outlived all of her children, and was also buried in the Old Presbyterian Cemetery, Route 49, Bridgeton, Cumberland County, NJ.
Thanks for the Shaw information! I didn't have all those dates and since I'm no where near NJ, I have very little opportunity to do research.
Chris Davis.

M, b. 13 December 1744, d. 7 May 1781
Birth* | 13 December 1744 | Henry Shaw was born on 13 December 1744.1 |
Death* | 7 May 1781 | He died on 7 May 1781 at Cumberland Co., New Jersey, at age 36; My5th ggrandfather was Henry Shaw b. 12-13-1744 d. 5-7-1781 married to Elizabeth Ogden b. 1739 d. 8-29-1789 (John Ogden & Bertha Reed). They were originally from the Fairfield area but later moved to the Dividing Creek/Newport area. They had 7 named children (Leonard, Ira, Amon, Henry, Daniel, Susannah and Sarah). I do not have much information on Ira, Amon or Daniel. My 4th ggrandfather was Henry S. Shaw, owner of Shaw’s Mill. No where in my records is there a Jonathan Shaw for this family. The b.d of Jonathan would fit as a child of one of the above but unfortunately I do no have that information. Bruce Moore.2 |
Note* | | ..from what I remember without looking for my unorganized notes, is that Henry came to the Old Stone Church from the Monmouth area. Somewhere I have documentation that he came to the church with a letter from the Old Tennent Presbyterian Church near Manalapan, state>New Jersey. Both churches were founded about the same time (Cedarville in 1680 & Tennent in 1692). I visited the Presbyterian Historical Library in Philadelphia a few years ago to view their records and confirmed this information.
...Our records from the Shaw Family Reunion papers also mention him being buried in the Old Stone Church. The later generations became Baptist. Henry S. Shaw Esquire was baptized and received into the church during 1831.
