"Penn's in Maryland as early as 1620; Census of 1790 MD has two Benjamins, two Johns and others. Edward Penn's arrival in the Maryland area predates all other Penns in America. If he was related to the Bristol or Gloucester Penns I have found no evidence. The Penns of Virginia are linked to George Penn, older brother of Capt. Giles Penn, the father of Adm. Wm Penn. PENNS OF MD...AND VIRGINIA Author: ROBERT PENN Date: 20 Feb 2000

The relationhip between the early Penn families in MD and VA is not clear but there is some indication Edward, William and John Penn were sons or grandsons of George Penn of England. This George was the older brother of Capt. Giles Penn who was William Penn the Founders grandfather. A Chart I have on the Penn's of Virginia indicates a direct connection."

William W. Penn born abt. 1808 and his brother John Penn born May 5, 1800 in Maryland. Their parents were supposed to have been from England. Don't know if there were other siblings but would love to find out. Both boys moved to Virginia and married (John in 1823 and William in 1831) ladies from the state and started families and later moved to Ohio. William then moved on to Iowa in about 1854. from [email protected]

My William W. Penn was born in Maryland in about 1808. He has a brother John Penn born May 5th 1800 Baltimore. Their parents were said to be born in England.

William W. Penn married Mary Ann Copeland (born about 1809 Virginia) in Virginia Dec. 21, 1831.

John Penn married Mary Chamblin (born Dec 21, 1800 Virginia)in Virginia Sept. 25, 1823.

They had children in Virginia and moved to Ohio and had more children. William then moved to Iowa in about 1854 or 1855. I believe some of Johns children also moved to Iowa.

I would be happy to provide names of the children they had if anyone is interested. John and Mary had 10 children and William and his Mary had 15 children. I am trying to find out if there are more siblings to William and John and also interested in hearing about descendants their children.
