Notes

"Pierre DUTOIS and his wife Barbara DE BONNETTE of the Parish of Tarrigny (?) with their two small children fled from France into Holland. They were disguised as Burgoise market man and wife, with the children safely disposed among the vegetables in the panniers on each side of a donkey which they led between them. A sword thrust into one of the panniers by a trooper came nearly to disclosing their identity, but the little hero who suffered a flesh wound in the leg, made no moan till the danger was past. Their daughter Elizabeth Dutois married Capt. Thomas Porter and were the parents of Elizabeth and Marie Porter."
