Roscoe son of William Howey, brother of Walter Howey of Riverside.]. Helen Howey was married to Roscoe Howey, Jr., my mother's brother and he is now deceased.
"We do not have much information on the Howey side of the family. My mother has no knowledge of an family ties to Ohio or Michigan but we are happy to share what we do know about the Howey family."

"Picture #1: Couple standing in front of the tobacco store in Riverside, NJ. Riversides is a small town in southern NJ on the Delaware River across from Philadelphia. You can barely see the name HOWEY near the peak of the storefront. Not sure of the first name of this couple, but his name may have been William. they had two sons. The story that was passed down to my mother was that the woman was raped and had a son before she married Mr. Howey. Mr. Howey adopted the boy and gave him his last name. The second son was named William.

"Picture #2 is William Howey, the only biological son of the man and woman standing in the front of the tobacco store. He married Emma Morgan.

"Picture #3 is Roscoe William Howey, Sr., the only child of William and Emma Howey. He was born in 1894 in Woodbury, NJ. He died in June 1962, in Camden, NJ."8

And Naomi his wife by one deed of Indenture date the third day of September A. Dom. 1797 did therein grant and convey unto Isaac Howey aforesaid his Heirs and assigns in fee simple, all the before mentioned twenty five acres of land and premises left unto him by his Father aforesaid being situated in the Township of Woolwich and County and State aforesaid. Adjoining unto the Southwesterly side of said Isaac Howeys other twenty five acres reference being had to said recited will and deed may more fully appease(?). Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said Isaac Howey and Abigail his Wife for and in consideration of the sum of One thousand pounds current specie Money of the State aforesaid to him the said Isaac Howey in hand well and truly paid by the said William Mulford at or before the ensealing and delivery hereof…..convey to William Mulford and to his heirs and assigns forever All them two described tracts of Land and premises containing Fifty Acres in them both the out lines…..Beginning at the stone corner to William Holmes Land…..to a stone corner of John Howeys Land….to a corner of James Webb Lot at the Head of his Mill pond. By James Stratton, Isacc Mickle, And John Blackwood, Esquires, Judges of the Inferior Court of Common Please of the County of Gloucester, in New Jersey, Notice is hereby given THAT upon application to us by by CALEB HEWES, of Woolwich, in the said county of Gloucester who claims one undivided third part of all tract of land, situate in Woolwich aforesaid, adjoining lands of Samual Kille, Aaron Hewes, and the said Caleb Hewes, containing 39 acres, more or less, we have nominated Matthew Gill, William White and William Howey, Commissioners, to divide the said tract of land into equal shares or parts, and unless proper objections are stated to us, at the house of Joseph P. Hillman, Innkeeper, in Woodbury, on the 20th day of JApril next, at 2 o'clock PM, the said Matthew Gill, William White and William Howey will then be appointed Commissioners, to make partition of the said land, pursuant to the act, entitled "An Act for the more easy partition of lands held by copartners, joint tenants, and tenants in common", passed 11th day of November, 1789.     First tract beginning at a hickory stump at Oldmans Creek, thence N 45° 32' E 51 chains and 50 links to a corner of Robert Howey's 25 acres, then by the same N 45° W 35 chains and 20 links to Avis' Run thence down the run ca. 33 chains to a post corner to lands late James Avis's and George Avis's thence N 71° W 1 chain and 81 links to a black oak, thence S 41° 30' W 6 chains to a white oak thence S 40° 30' W three chains and 42 links, thence S 49° E 80 links thence S 45° E 3 chains and 25 links, then S 42° W two chains and 2 links, thence S 12° E 2 chains and 50 links thence S 40° W 50 links to Oldmans Creek aforesaid thence up the creek to the point of beginning . 180 acres agreeable to the survey done in 1773. Beginning at a creek or gut and running up the several courses thereof bounding on Henry Louderback's meadow to the main branch of Oldmans Creek thence running down the creek bounding by the several courses thereof to the place of beginning . 3 acres more or less. Same tract John Louderback and Ann his wife conveyed by deed 18 Mar 1791 to William Howey.

    Third tract beginning at the foot of Oldman's Creek Bridge in the Salem Road and N 21-1/2° E 3 chains and 12 links thence N 34° E 10 chains to a corner of Martin Hall's Lot, thence by said lot S 62° E six chains and 50 links to another corner of Martin Halls lot in the Ditch being on the line of said Howey's other land thence by the same S 42-1/2° W 3 chains and 90 links to a white oak in the hill side thence S 43° W 3 chains and 37 links to a corner in the hill side thence S 49-3/4° E 3 chains and 25 links crossing the Branch to a small black oak thence by the hill side S 42° W 2 chains and 2 links (?) thence S 12° E 2 chains and 50 links thence S 40° W 50 links to Oldmans Creek thence down the same by the several courses to the place of beginning. 10 acres 2 roods and 18 perches.     I, William Howey of the Township of Deptford County of Gloucester and State of New Jersey being weak in body but of sound disposing mind & memory; and calling to mind the uncertainty of life, do this fifth day of the eleventh month in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty two make and ordain this my last Will and Testament as follows, to wit

    1. I desire that my Executors herein after named pay all my just debts and funeral charges and that they may be enabled so to do, my Will is that they make sale to the best advantage they can for my whole Estate real and personal; The remainder or residue thereof to be disposed of in the manner as follows viz.

    2. To Ann my Wife I devise the whole of the residue or remainder of my Estate after my debts are paid, during her natural life, (?) at her decease my will is that what may then remain shall go to my children viz. Mary Ann Miller, Moses Howey, Abigail Ward, and Rebecca Hewitt Howey to be equally divided among them share and share alike.

    3. To my daughter Rebecca Hewitt Howey I give a Bed and Bedding equal in value as near as may be to those heretofore given to my children to be taken out of my Estate before any sale thereof is made.

    4. To my other children viz. Joseph Howey, Hope Huston, William Howey & Robert Howey, I give five Dollars each.

    New Jersey Legislature, on 30 NOV 1792, passed a new militia law. Under this
    act all men between the ages of 18 and 45 years who were able bodied could
    either enroll in the county militia or pay an annual tax of three dollars.
