Thomas and Sarah seem for the most part to have brought up Reuben and Henry. ( At least since Reuben was aged 11)

Sidelines - Thomas ... another son ?

Also present in Dawley during the 1851 census were Reuben Lomas and family. As it was popular to have children in one's 20's, it seems possible (documentation needed) that Reuben (below) was also a son of Thomas and Sarah Lomas.(unconfirmed)

At this stage it is unclear if Susanna and Sarah are the same individual or if Susanna was a previous marriage.

Several other family trees suffer the same problem between these two names, often seen as "Susanne (Sarah)", providing fuel for the belief that Sarah was a shortened version or 'pet' name for Susanna.

If this is indeed the case then Reuben Lummas b.1811 was the brother of William b.1815.

Discussion is invited on this point here

Sarah b. Abt. 1795 was born in Meole Brace, Shropshire. Her surname is unknown. After the death of husband Thomas in 1856 she was with Reuben and Henry living in Dawley. 1861 census

In the 1800s, coal was dug with a pick. Crouching or lying on his side, the collier carefully undercut the seam until a wedge of small powder charge brought the coal crashing down. One usually entered the trade as a boy. Very often a father took his own children, boy or girl as soon as they could open a trap door or push a corve of coal along tracks. In order to survive, a child had to quickly learn how to shore up mine ceilings with timbers and how to recognize the deadly fumes of "black" and "white" damp. Needless to say, mining was one of the most dangerous occupations of this time period.

Sarah b. Abt. 1795 was born in Meole Brace, Shrewsbury. Her surname is unsure. After the death of husband Thomas in 1856, the 1861 census shows her (aged 59) with Reuben and Henry living in Dawley.

The place names Little Wenlock and Lawley Bank still exist today just a few kilometres west of Telford with Wellington to the north west.
