DEATH TAKES
EDNA A. COLBY

Is Stricken With Fatal Malady About
A Year Ago - Interment In
McHenry Cemetery

Edna A. Colby, daughter of Clarence and Henrietta Colby, was born on the old homestead in Nunda township, Nov. 9, 1881. She was a bright, happy school girl, and an earnest, studious pupil. After completing the grades in the district schools she attended the high school at Crystal Lake for a short time. However, the environment of home life appealed to her so strongly that she gave up her studies to take up the duties of the home. She remained with her parents until the time of her passing, and was ever a source of great comfort and joy to them in their declining years.

Edna was truly a lover of nature - the flowers, the trees, the birds and the dumb animals alike shared in her admiration.

About a year ago Miss Colby showed signs of failing health, but at first gave the matter very little thought. However, the decline became so rapid and marked that her relatives and friends became greatly alarmed and sought the advice of local physicians, who recommended the counsel of skilled specialists in Chicago. It was discovered that a fatal malady had become so deeply seated that she was beyond all human aid. She failed gradually until last Monday morning, Dec. 12, when she sank to rest in eternal sleep as peacefully as a weary child sinks to rest in its mother's arms, at the age of 40 years, 1 month and 3 days.

While we mourn with heavy hearts today the departure of one near and dear to us, there is comfort in the thought that she has passed to a land of sunshine and flowers far away from the haunts of pain and sorrow.

Besides her father and mother, she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Lee Lockwood and Mrs. Truman Flanders, together with a large number of relatives and friends, to mourn her untimely death.

Funeral services were held at the home at one o'clock Wednesday afternoon, Rev. H. C. Dick officiating. Interment was in the cemetery at McHenry.
