  • He was a Revolutionary War soldier. Enlisting in April 1777 while residing in Prince William County, Virginia. He served until the summer of 1781, at various times. For a period of eight months he served as a private in Capt. Valentine Payton's Company, under Maj. Ramsey and Col. Jesse Ewell in the Virginia Troops. On 28 Jun 1834, William Brewer filed a petition to receive a pension for his service which he stated as above. In his application he states that he was born 22 March 1744 in St. Mary's Co., Maryland, but does not name his parents. He moved to Kentucky in 1793. In 1853, Elizabeth Wallace, widow, filed an affidavit stating that she was one of the children of William Brewer, "who died in this county some twelve years since leaving no widow." There are no other family details.2
